Just want to know if I take my box and card to the girlfriends, will it work connected to the dish at her place?

    Cheers

The boxes aren't tied to anything, I brought my box over from England and it works fine with a pre-existing dish.

A bit ambiguous - sky card is paired with the box, not the dish. Just to clarify(!) ;)

Damn, that means carrying the box to and fro. Ah well, not such a chore I suppose when there is the world cup at stake!

So If I wanted a better Sky Digital box, I would need to do some funky stuff to my card?

No, you just have to re-pair the card to the box you want to use it with. There is a hidden menu with the ability to do this. Press services-4-0-1-select and then select the new installation option. The box needs a phone connection to do this.

phone sky, tell them the serial # of new box. They match them up. Job done.

Card works fine without this for family pack channels, sports/movies/recording etc (sky+) needs it to be paired.

I did indeed. Just thought I'd make it extra clear, just in case someone else misinterpreted.
