are the government making two massive gambles with our taxes?

but everything is being built in London yet we are all being taxed. why should my family (who live in lincolnshire) pay for something that will not help us 1 bit?

to be honest if you live outside london it is annoying seeing how much money goes straight south and very little is spent up here.

Isn't it the case though that taxes from London, especially the city, grossly outweigh that which the governments spends on London, and has done since the dawn of time?

If so, by your logic, why should my taxes fund your healthcare year in, year out?

no, your tax pays your healthcare and my tax pays my healthcare.

a proper analogy would mean you dont get healthcare yet pay tax to fund mine.

anyone outside of London will see no benefit from the Olympics.

You misunderstand, London as a whole pays more tax out than the cost of the benefits it receives (through schools, healthcare, policing, etc etc etc) . Therefore that excess in funds is being used in other parts of the country, to pay for schools, healthcare, policing, the war in Iraq, etc.

true, but you also get all the cool stuff like Wembley etc and the whole government seems to care solely about London. probably not true but it seems north of Watford is inconsequential to government.
