are the xfx 5970 the only ones to reach 1ghz00 core and 6GB Memory?

No, they are all the same. Just XFX supply this "over volt tool" which I'm sure you'll be able to get a copy of along with an XFX bios so you can do it with any 5970.

Also note at the bottome:
*The HD 5970 Black Edition ships with default GPU and memory clocks set at 725MHz and 4.0GHz respectively. It's overclock performance will depends on the graphics card, other system components, and may also be affected by environmental conditions.

As it happens, the "Overvolt Tool" quoted, has been withdrawn by ATI/AMD anyway.
It dosn't give you enough voltage scope on the cores, and the mem voltage just burns up the VRM's.

My Asus 5970 does 1000/1200 on stock air cooling, just using Afterburner.
