Are memory timings as important as they used to be for eeking out performance from ones RAM or have they been drowned with raw MHz speed? Just wondering... I recall spending hours tweaking DDR timings down as low as possible

I used to be the same a few years ago tweaking DDR PC3200 memory to run at the lowest possible timings.

Even going so far as to spend a lot of money on Mushkin memory with the famous BH-5 memory chips.

These days memory timings don't really affect performance, I just leave everything at 'SPD'

It does effect performance but things have gotten to the point where the performance gains arn't noticed in anything other then benchmarks specialize in testing the RAM.
