Are Wusthof Knifes Good?

I have been and got 3 Wusthof Knife for my kitchen as I am into cooking and I got fed up with my old knifes being crap. I am hoping these what i bough are good and will last ages? I were going for Global but I hated the handle on them and been told they can be slippy and give blisters
 
Doesnt Gordon Ramsay use those?

That's pretty conclusive proof that they're good.. or he's paid a lot to use them :p.

The handles on 'french' and 'german' style knives are excellent. I use Wusthofs. Henckels (however you spell them) are another well known option. They are considerably heavier than japanese knives and require more continual sharpening, as they are not high carbon steel.

They are widely used by professionals, as are henckels, so it is really splitting hairs as to which is best - its whatever is most comfortable for you.

One suggestion might be to try and look at other japanese knives. Usually however they are exceptionally exepsnvie since global are a mass produced version (though still very good of course) The link below is a shop in London reknowned for them:

I did have a go with a Global knife before xmas and did not like the feel of it though the handle were horrible.. I am quite please with my wusthof I got they seem really nice to use... But I want a couple of more knife for different jobs wonder whether to try a different brand or stick to same ones
 
Yes they are quite good. I have a few in my knife box

I am looking for a good storage for my wusthof as dont want a knife block for them what do you suggest please or do you know of a good site where i can look for knife storage i though about blade guard

Well Mine at home and work are on wall hung magnetic knife racks/boards. Does the job for me.
Safe out of harms way and I can instantly see if there not there and then grab whichever cheeky commis chef has nicked it and then proceed to boil wash his head!

I did think about getting one of those Magnetic Knife rack but worried of knocking them off and hurting someone...
 
Well I keep mine sharp by using a diamond steel. I never let mine get so bad they need anything stronger than that.
Just dont ever cut metal with them or onto metal. Wash and then dry them well.

Good knives will last a very long time. I have some that are over 10+ years old, if not more and they look pretty much like new.

Like so much in life, you get what you pay for.
But if I was you. If you are new to knives, so to speak I would go and hold them. As they all feel so different.
I personally cannot get on with Global Knives. They are very good knives, but I just don't like the way they feel. don't know why. Just not for me.

You get use to a certain feel in your hand.
