Are you optimistic about the future of the human race or pessimistic?

Optimistic. Democracy has got it's problems, but it's the best thing the human race has come up with, and we are witnessing the spread of Democracy at a staggering rate. Just hope we can continue to fend off the leaderships of some of the more Totalitarian States in the process. So they can't throw a nuke into the works.

As long as nobody starts dropping nukes it should be ok. need some alternate forms of energy production so that theres no need to have this radioactive stuff that can be used to make bombs and weapons like depleted uranium armour peircing stuff and it would stop oil wars. pity they couldnt just store all of that waste on the moon or some crappy planet we dont need.Im relatively optimistic.

Considering the fact people still die on a daily basis due to lack of clean drinking water/food, I personally think the human race should hang it's head in shame.

Pessimistic.

If people only existed in Africa that would be true, but most people outside of Africa are thriving. The question is not about morals, it's about our future, and we are constantly advancing.

I'm optimistic.

Democracy isn't a viable solution for some states. You can't erase generations of hate by forcing democracy onto a population.

They should hang their head in shame for letting those people keep breeding maybe. Not talking about any specific group but if your IQ is so low you can't even figure out food and water after 200,000 years...

I think we will reach some major breaking point within the next 50 years, a huge war/disease/famine that dramatically lowers the population of developed nations. There is simply too many people for the amount of energy and resources available and technology has not caught up.

The longer the status quo continues, the further down our living standards will sink. Just look at the latest budget, everyone pretty much agrees it sucks for the man on street. It's a sign of things to come unless there is massive social and political change, in our lifetimes we may see energy, food and travel being massively restricted compared to now (and think how bad things have got since the 90s).

Lolkwerk

Don't be a moron. It's unbecoming of you.

Worried. Even though technology will advance, I am not sure if it will advance at the rate that is needed.
Imo STEM student numbers should be rising and not stagnating that they are at the moment.

What do you reckon then, leave them to it? Err, that's what's happening isn't it. Tunisia, Egypt, Libya, Syria. The people will do it. It just takes some Nations longer than others. Russia was on the brink of it pre-Putin. And he's hanging on by his fingernails.

For one person to survive then others must die, for one to be rich, others must be poor, this is the way things work. In many places which you speak off, the agricultural land is used to produce export crops, which in turn brings revenue to few rich people, which then ends up in weapons and war.

But no one needs to be really poor, or bordering on poverty. Wealth can be spread around better, that's what minimum wage is all about, and higher tax bands on the rich.

Farmers could get more money, but the corporations would rather keep the profit.

Excluding the idea of life eternity, people do not need to die for others to survive as well.

Pessimistic...:(

I just feel that a global event will happen at some point within the next 25 years, be it man-made or natural and that it'll be curtains for some.

We don't really seem to learn from our short history...a possible global war based on resource and commodity acquistion seems inevitable (based on increased consumption). Unless the US debt mountain triggers depression?

Then again mother nature has a nice unpredictable way of correcting things...

lol at the optimists, the entire global economy is built on fundamental growth of the population, its unquestionably not sustainable, that doesn't mean it will break down tomorrow but, there isn't an area on earth with enough space for unchecked population growth.

Look at China's growing power demands, power station building and polution increases, this will only INCREASE over time, not decrease, lack of food, more and more people living in poverty in the rich countries of the world.

The world economy is a ponzi scheme and I hope to christ it holds on till I get to a decent old age before it collapses.

We already have wars based solely on resource control, the problems will start when two bigger countries fight over a smaller country and their resources, or more accurately, when two of the bigger nations have no choice but to go after the same resources as someone else........... that or all the big nations will all at the same time decide power isn't worth it, population growth is a bad thing, being nice and having world peace is great and wasting power and creating polution has to stop.
