Are you scared of spiders?

Not a big fan of house spiders and we seem to get loads of the buggers here!

Saw a massive house spider run across the floor yesterday. Much better witted than our dumb dog, who chased it briefly then spent about 4 minutes trying to get to it after it ran under the sofa.

I generally abide by the adage "If you have spiders, then you don't have bugs."

No problem at all with the odd spider coming into contact with me.

Used to fear all 6 and 8 legged creatures.

These days, only the really big spiders scare, me, usually try to pick em up with a piece of paper, and I do drop it when they starting moving to my hand turbo mode...

Small ones are cute though :).

I guess I'm scared of the ''big'' ones that they might be able to ''hurt'' me, opposed to smaller creatures which I think are not likely to bite me causing pain ( as in, if they bite me I'll not likely feel anything but perhaps an itch).

The reason I dislike spiders is because they are small and quick even though I know they wont do any harm. My biggest fear is one goes into my mouth while I am sleeping.

Spiders aren't actually very quick. A leisurely walking speed for a human is faster than an all-out sprint for the fastest spider. They just seem much quicker because they are so small.

Spiders very strongly avoid going into the mouth of animals large enough to eat them, including you (and me and everyone else). It's very rare for any animal to go into the mouth of an animal large enough to eat them and the few exceptions are the result of a symbiotic relationship that has developed (e.g. those birds that pick food from between crocodiles' teeth). It's very unlikely that a spider would go into your mouth (or anyone's mouth). It would have to be a freak occurence from one falling off the ceiling at exactly the wrong time.

I am not scared of them but I do not like them or want them near/on me.

I had to deal with a giant huntsman while on holiday and while it made me feel uneasy I was not running away in fear.
