About 6 months ago my girlfriend used my car (she is a named driver) and it ended with some guy reversing into it and shoving the rear quarter in. Bad lucky I thought, could have happened to anyone. Today was her college induction and so she kindly asked if she could use my car as I get better mpg. Got a call an hour ago saying someone had smashed into the back of the car while she was waiting at some traffic lights. The chap admitted fault and said he wasn't paying attention. Car apparently is a mess and undrivable. To make matters worse she already has a history of neck problems and says she is in pain, so off to sit in A&E for a few hours now.

She has some whiplash so is having to take time off work - she is a hairdresser. Hopefully it will disappear in a week.

Got my courtesy car yesterday, a 2.0TDI VW Tiguan. It's a strange replacement for my MG ZR, but I find it very pleasant to drive.

I always thought whiplash took a few days to show itself - she seems to have had it immediatly?

Only the nasty side effects take longer to develop, the ones asociated with "ooh I think I could claim here".

If your head gets thrown about in an accident, you can expect a fair degree of immediate muscle pain, this can later develop into the more permanent injury associated with whiplash.
