Quite annoyed, was aiming to get a q6600 g0 system up today paired with a Gigabyte P35 DS3R board.

Doing the usual, quick visual check and i come across this:

Bad pic, but you can see on the right one of the white plastic plugs which holds the heatsink down onto the chipset is missing, not even in the box, just not there!

Without this the heatsink slumps left, you can see the thermal pad and theres next to no contact because of this, thus rendering that cooling pretty much useless.

So what do i do? I can RMA to the etailor, but just for the sake of one plug? Maybe a trip to a PC shop to see if they have any spare?

What would you do? Just RMA? Just annoyed as i wanted to have this up by the weekend..

Any help appreciated..

if you contact Gigabyte technical support they will send you a replacement plug, they sent me a screw for my heatsink on the DS4 but i had to send them a Self Addressed Stamped envelope.

You'd think that this would have been picked up by when someone looked at the board, its blatently obvious, how this has got passed QA. Not impressed as this was my first gigabyte board.

I think i'll just return it, shame it looks like a great board, build quality is good and everything..

Big disapointment

We had several Gigabyte boards at work that were like this, either missing or broken, I replaced them with ones from dead motherboards.

You could try asking at a local PC shop id they have any they are throwing away.
