How is everyone getting on with these?

I've done them all apart from the Australia V Solomon Islands which is currently driving me insane!

3-0 up at half time and you need to score 4 goals as Australia in the second half.

Sounds easy but its not when you play against a team who pass the ball around like a Brazilian team and a defensive unit who are masters of the offside trap. Not forgetting the world class keeper they have between the sticks.

I mean, come on! This is the flaming Solomon Islands!

Been playing it to death and the best I've managed is 6-0 on a couple of occasions. Can't for the life of me get the 7th goal. :(

In my last game I managed 6-0 with 16 shots on goal and 5 offside decisions against me.

Hehe :D

Theres plenty of other posts about this subject, some of them contain ways of making it easier. Most of them though, have lots of starred out words.

i found the AI on this game the most annoying thing about the challenges, they just run away from you all the time

yeh the AI on that game is annoying as hell. tips for the challenges either search this forum ;) or mess about with team management ;)

lol i was having a go at this one last night and grrr it wound me up summat rotten, messed on with all sorts even at amatuer i was gettin hammered, well got two goals but thats about itupto now, as soon as they get the ball thats it time is wasted :o

GET IN THERE!!!!!

Just done the Aussie Rules Global Challenge at long last!! :D

Managed to beat them 7-0 and still had 20 minutes left to play of the half. Rather than go for the extra goal I just played a bit of keep ball between my back 4.:D

Just 5 of the World Cup Classic Challenges and 1000 achievement points will be mine!

My Tips:

1. Play a 4-3-3 formation.
2. Mark Viduka in between the 2 other strikers (I had Cahill and Kewell as my other front men)
3. Set the offensive tactic to Counter Attack and defensive to pressing
4. This is the most important tip. Do not go chasing for the ball! It will take you a while to get it back. Instead, let them commit more men forward and let them come to you. When they are around the penalty area, make the tackle.
5. From here, pass forward quickly and then you can either play a through ball down the middle for a one on one with the keeper or pass to one of the wide front men. Get to the byline and cross it in. Viduka should be in the middle of the penalty box for a header. He's not quick but excellent in the air. Perform a downward header.

Whichever method you choose, the quick counter attatck will leave them with fewer defenders behind. They also play a pretty high line.

The most important thing is don't go chasing the ball! Let them come to the edge of your penalty box and then break forward quickly.

A bit off topic, but how do you do a downward header? I don't play the game much (purely a post pub mates game for me) but I put headers over the bar 99% of the time, even with people with excellent heading skills :)

god damn i still cant do it, most ive managed is 5 and im even puttin their worst strikers in defence but they still make some good tackles haha. also im finding another one just as hard, the el salvador v honduras challenge, can get the first straight away but to get the second to bring it to a draw, i just cnat do, even with some excellent crosses and great headers the keeper stops it all.....any tips

That El Salvador game is a beast.

18 minutes to go and you need to score 2 goals with the worlds worst 11 players.:(

Can't remember how I done that one as it was ages ago.

I've only got one more match to go to finally unlock those 500 achievement points.

Its the World Cup classic match, Brazil V Sweden.

You take control of Sweden 4 - 2 down, 80 minutes to go and needing to win the game!!!! Need to score 2 goals in 10 minutes to take it into extra time!

If you struggled with the Aussie Rules challenge, you ain't seen nothing yet!

still cant do aussie rules or the el salvador one  getting really annoyed now haha. oh well im more gutted about the fact of no xbox live for the a while until i can reach the router with my xbox cable haha

he he these challenges testing how robust my wireless joypads are, threw them off the wall a couple of times and still work ok. You think you have done well when you finally complete all the challenges then you come up against the Brazil vs Sweden match like GuruJockStrap mentioned, jeeso that was a nightmare but one i can gladly say i won, i honestly dont know how anyone could get gold awards on a lot of these, your lucky to take the game into penalties...:S
