Armada of British naval power massing in the Gulf as Israel prepares an Iran strike

What ships we got there?

The British component consists of four British minesweepers and the Royal Fleet Auxiliary Cardigan Bay

cool

Nice. Minesweepers. Great.

And just wiki'd the RFA Cardigan Bay. Basically a landing ship/tank-troop carrier. Didn't realise a ground invasion was on the cards... :-/

I think the US still have one don't they?

e: perhaps not... last one was decommissioned in 1992 from what I gather.

I reckon the China-Japan thing is worth watching more. Those protests are obviously state sanctioned or even staged with paid protestors. Seems like China really wants to have a war. They have terrible economic problems and need a diversion.

If the US/UK get tied up in more middle east problems (Iran) China could use the opportunity for a land grab.

As others have pointed out, i didnt think there were any battleships left in operating in the world.

The article says "wargame". so what exactly is going on?

Things are pretty bad in Iran. My gf who is British, but was born in Iran recently went back to visit some family. She mentions the sanctions are hitting hard.

As an example:

Families can not afford to buy meat anymore. You might think this is petty. However consider the damage to moral it does to the population. Especially when a vast majority of Iranian dishes contain meat.

Western products have been banned. Stuff like tampons, loo roll etc are now made by the Iranian manufacturing force. From what I've seen the products are not up to scratch either!

Cut off their supplies , demoralise the population , political bullying. Bombs will be next

It's the Israeli way

It's not demoralising the population it's galvanising the population and affording the regime the chance to remove all the elements of society they want to see the back of. The US, Uk etc are run by idiots. If you want to instigate change in a country you need something/somebody in situ for that country to change towards. When you don't you create a power vacuum that is invariably filled by elements far more onerous than the ones you've just replaced.
