I believe so. the new series is supposed to lead into the film and I guess bridge the gap between the last season and the film.

I'm quite interested to see how the show works as I think each ep is set roughly at the same time as each other but they focus on a small selection of characters during that period. Jason Bateman gave a good example where he'd be driving down a street and you'd see Gob on his Segway heading down a side street but you could literally pause that ep there and start watching another ep that starts with Gob on his Segway heading down that side street.
