Woke up this morning to find our knocked up moggy had given birth

Six arrivals, five survived (it's her first litter and she seems a bit spaced out about taking the sac off of them) all appear healthy, plenty of noise and movement.

Kittens everywhere! Always amazing how mobile they are when only a few hours old.

Tired mum Mia.

Sprog is going nuts wanting to play with her new toys

Dave is a proper pimp, he has the run of 3 sisters (twins and older sister) and a mother and daughter team (i kid you not!) :D

The kittens will all be going to new homes. (The parents are pedigrees and these kittens are worth a couple of quid)

Do you have permission from the breeder to breed? I don't really agree with people breeding pedigree cats that were sold as pets for a reason, and I'd hate to think you've broken an agreement with a reputable breeder :p.

We own the cats, they are ours to do with as we like.

Our cats aren't on the "active register" for breeding and were sold to us as such. Any kittens they produce are sold as pets, not pedigrees (they're a crossbreed of two pedigree anyway, so aren't pure). I can't help it if people like to buy kittens from pedigree cats. :)

The agreement we've had with the reputable breeders we've dealt with has been "you give me money, i'll give you a kitten"

A reputable breeder wouldn't have a deal like that. I've never spoken to a breeder who didn't demand pet quality cats were neutered, in fact I couldn't even get my second cat until I had proof that the first one had been neutered. Your cats are pet quality for a reason, which means they were never meant to be bred.

How would you define pet quality? Is a pedigree a pedigree because of a piece of paper? Or becuase of it's family line? Either way, we've got the piece of paper and the bloodline. What we don't have is a tick on the paper saying that we had a pedigree on the breeding register.

Our cats are pets, if they have kittens, they have kittens. They aren't sold as pedigree because they're a crossbreed of two pedigree.

our next ones gonna come from the breeder we met and she wants it spayed(not sure on spelling) and photos every 6 months just to be sure she's being taken care off properly and we have to carry the name the breeder give to all its dogs.

So, you're going to rent the animal then?

Smallest one was pushed out by the mum mid-morning, wasn't holding body heat or eating. Tried heat packs and weening stuff, but no joy. :(

Eldest comes back from her mums tomorrow, she's looking forward to seeing the 5 kittens. Bother.
