Lol, its funny (almost) I start looking at new GFX cards and my current starts playing up, its artifacting a lot, even more when it gets hotter, Now its at stock, and has been pretty much since install from new, can i still RMA it? Bought it 15/08/2006 so its in its first year, i have no idea how long the warranty was for anyway.

Thing is i dont want OcUK to say its fine, when i know its not, how do they test it? I only ask as sometimes, rarely when first playing a game it can be fine, so if they just slap it in and do a quick test then all MIGHT seem ok, but possibly not  lol. However when i run 3DMark 06 it artifacts quite a lot.

And will i get another X1800XT back? lol, if this hadnt of started playing up i would have sold it anyway to help get some monies back paid the new card.

EDIT: only overclock was a mild one and even that was in CCC

It knows you want to change up LOL.
Yes you`ll be in warranty, what brand is it?.
I`d check your temps idle/load try another psu or even in a different machine with known stable drivers.Best to cover all bases i think.Has the pc acted up as well recently? overclocked?

Its a Connect3D not a massively renoun manufactuer as such but still half decent afaik, well i am also building a rig for a mate this week, so will try it in there and see how it goes... good thinking, although my rigs been fine otherwise, but best to check eh!

Yep Sapphire is 2 years, 1st year with point of purchase, second with sapphire direct, well EQS really who handle sapphire RMAs here in UK, be ready for a 1month min wait with EQS, will only send out replacement cards when they receive them from Sapphire HK

On the plus side you may get an upgrade :)

Edit: Already posted phone number for EQS in another thread.

heres something to check - ive had a lot of artifacting on mine in the past,

the card was fine, but my system ram wasnt!

new ram, and its fine.
just a thought

When was the last time you cleaned the cooler? Stock cooler can suck a lot of dust in a short period of time and there maybe a layer of thick dust blocking th intake. You'll notice it when it constantly spins at 100% even when playing not so demanding games. Check the temps.

Well I opened the cooler up, the fins were barely touched with dust, but gave them a good clean anyway, and got out some dust at least, then taking the cooler off completely I saw what potentially was the problem... the thermal paste looked like it had been applied with a trowel, and was cheap stuff too! SO cleaned it up nicely with some lighter petrol ( always use this... works a treat ;) ) and applied some AS5 which has dropped my temps by about 4-6C immediately without the cure time so should be a few more degrees to drop yet! :)

Able to get a nice OC now compared to beofre which has given me an extra 450 points in 3DMark06!

Thanks for your help guys... and oh no artifacts :)

as I said in my above post i've sorted it now, the thermal paste was gunk so put some AS5 on it and it worked a treat! :)

Currently idles at 49C now compared to 56 before and load is hell of a lot lower, good 'ol AS5 :D

Doh!,i was goin to suggest this first time, but i presumed your temps were ok.
I did mine a few months ago and dropped idle/load by a good 10 degrees (even with dinging one of the fiddly screws on back).
Glad you got it sorted, saves a huge headache :)
