...who has spent thousands of pounds on his PC and loudly proclaimed "I will never buy a sodding console" let me just say that it looks like I may be chewing on hat very soon. The reason? Nintendo Wii.

I have to say that this console looks absolutely friggen amazing. Not only is it going to be the most innovative of the three, with it's motion sensing remote etc but it's also going to be the cheapest... how the flip can you argue with that?

So it's not going to be HD from what I can see but who cares, the games still look awesome and if i'm not mistaken isn't it going to be possible to play FPS by using the remote like a gun to control your X/Y axis? The potential for this is simply *****-worthy, not only would a "proper" gun add-on be amazing for FPS, but if Lucasarts get their finger out and make an amazing SW game that can use the remote as a lightsaber they you won't be able to see my television for the amount of spaff covering it. :D

I don't think i've ever been excited about a console before in my life, barring the SNES back when PC's were cack, but this machine looks just the thing to convert me. XBOX360 is basically my PC with less features, and PS3 is looking to be an over-priced, late console that doesn't really bring much new to the table.

In my opinion Nintendo are consistently bringing new innovations to gamers without relying on their technical specs to sell their consoles and games... they are all about gameplay and fun.

Any other PC gamers looking at this new upcoming Wii little console with giddy anticipation?

I must agree the wii has me very interested too, got a 360 so no real need for the ps3 but like the look of wii, i too was a die hard pc gamer before getting my 360 and always slagged off my m8's with consoles, never had so much fun

Rofl you made me spit coffee on my desk when reading that this morning :P - this new control system does sound pretty damn funky - you wouldnt want to be playing track and field though :P

Yup, I'm an avid PC gamer and am getting a Wii, mainly due that the X360 has almost all the Pc games, and the PS3 is a rip, and my PC can be my main platform for gaming and the wii can just be a bit of fun :p

same here. Im a PC gamer first and a foremost but the Wii looks to me to offer something new, and thats what has sold it for me. I hate sports games with a passion but would actually have fun playing them on the Wii -snooker anyone?

I'm still a diehard PC gamer when it comes to FPS and RTS, I just couldn't survive without the speed or accuracy of a mouse for those!!

But the 360 sold me back into consoles, PGR3 was/is great, TR:L has kept me well and truly hooked attempting to get that last 2% of my save game and games such as Hitman which was a staple on the PC for me will carry nicely onto the console I think. PS3 is gonna have FF on it which is practically the only title mentioned on the console I was remotely interested in and at £450 (or thereabouts) its a lot of money to shell out. Wii on the other hand will be definitely affordable and will easily fill the cartoony fun factor I always loved on the SNES!

If anything i cant wait for the nintendo REVOLUTION myself, see what i did there;)....i refuse to call it a WII :p

But not only does it look the business but its also cheap...but really the looks of that thing has me hooked...i swear after watching the e3 nintendo conference i had a mini orgasm...that thing is simply amazing...i have a feeling that my 360 might be sold or packed up once i get one:p

Join the club, exactly the same for me but I opted for the 360. I don't miss pc gaming one bit at all now and have only AoE II on this rig remaining.

From reading people's impressions of the Wii who went to E3(look for the thread in the SA forums in the game section:"The E3 In-Person, Unabridged Impressions Thread (56k play with your Wii)" some swearing I think) they seem to be pretty disappointed. Not enough to put them off though.

It looks very exciting, brings something new to the table.

Having had a PS1 and a N64 (which I still play every week) the next gen just seemed the same games with better graphics.

Megadrive is still awsome fun, the Wii looks quite good for the gaming with my parents factor alone. :p

If its under £300 I will pick one up for sure, I do not care what others think as long as me and my parents can get a laugh out of it, as the modern consoles are to complicated for the most part to allow my rents to get any fun from the games in a pick up and play fashion.

And yes, PC > Console for me personally as I like RTS and FPS games. Will be getting a Xbox360 in the next month mind. :p

Im a former hardcore PC gamer, and ive got myself a 360 and so far i think its great, E3 has also been very good for future 360 games too. The Wii(omg i cant beleive they went with this) was the least exciting in my view.

Ive looked at a fair few Wii game movies now and the only thing the Wii seems to have going for it, IMO, is the novel controller and the price(assuming its going to be cheap). Ive never really been impressed with Nintendo games anyway.

One problem the Wii is going to face, is that "Most" games are cross platform and if the Wii is significantly weaker power wise, it will likely miss out on some major titles and/or it will merely get last-gen ports, with a sprinkling of Wii only games.

I also have a feeling this console will age more quickly when compared to the other consoles.

btw im not trying to flame, its just my view, based on what ive seen :)

PC Gamer here.

Ive not been tempted by the the 360 or PS3 (Although the Graphics do look next, Gen).

Am getting a Wii though as it looks just plain and simple fun.

After years of refusing to buy a console myself, this afternoon I've just bit the bullet. I went down to the shops and got myself an Xbox 360. I have to say I am well chuffed with it. The dashboard is a lovely piece of creativity. I set it to 720p for my Dell monitor (don't know if 1080i is better?) and had a quick go of Hexic HD. Loved it!

Now I'm just downloading the Kameo demo from the Marketplace. I can't wait to plug my headset in and have a go on Live when I get a retail game. I can honestly see my PC being used less for games now. I just don't know what took me so long!

EDIT: A question - can you plug any old external USB HDD in to store game demos and movies and things or does it have to all go on the provided disk or memory card?
