I know the title may sound strange, but please allow me to explain.

Among the guys I work with, I am pretty much the only one who doesnt own an Xbox 360.

They go on Xbox Live with Gears of War and hilarity ensues although I obviously am not able to take part. There is often large groups of people logged on from where I work so the multiplayer games are apparently great fun.

Am I missing out on much?

Im not interested in getting a console, would rather spend the money on upgrades to the PC (Have allways enjoyed games on the PC), HOWEVER is Gears Of War really that good in multiplayer?

Or

Are the GOW PC servers well populated? If so, will just get that and continue being the black sheep :)

Or

Are there much better PC online multiplayer games (TF2)and I should forget about it all together?

Thanks

The 360 novelty has worn off for me. Selling it to my sister with about 7 games for 50 quid! Really didn't rate the Gears of War multiplayer either

I've played it, and no it's not. Get Crysis or COD4 if you want good multiplayer. :)

If it really must be Xbox 360 multiplayer, tell your friends to get COD4.

It is very good online, but there are better. The thing is, it is all about who is playing, not what you are playing. This is made even more so by the fact that all 360 games have voice support as well. Makes it great when you have friends playing.

The bigger question is do you want to join in with them or not? I don't think it has much to do with GoW.

GoW is an awesome teambased game. Get get a bunch of 8 or so guys together and you'll be surprised how much there is to it. On publics it can be pretty good, but it's one of those games that really only shines when you have 4 people who are communicating well over comms. You'll be hard pressed to find another online game that plays anything like GoW, or find one that focusses as much on situational awareness and covering your mates back.

One of the more enjoyable and unique MP games i've played in recent years.

You can't play against XBL players from the PC version. I have to say that the PC version is worth getting, I'd wait a month though so the game gets a little more popular. It is awesome if you have a good team of players, or a boomshot noob like myself ;).
