as natalie imbruglia once said " im torn! "

Hello buzzlightweight :)

as I said I will be upgrading my mobo and CPU at a later date so I would rather get a cooler I can keep for the future upgrade.
If your interested in saving some money and get some help with overclocking your Intel® Core™2 Quad Q9400 can you answer the questions in your other thread?

Thanks for your help and opinions :-)

Looks beautiful, why did you change the fans? also did you use the thermal paste supplied or buy some new stuff?

Changed the fans as the silent eagles were starting to struggle with summer heat, (only 1200 rpm), vipers hit 1900 rpm. I never used the thermalright chill factor paste, but apparently its very good, i used some arctic MX3 that i had.

Cheers for all the information, i'll be picking one of these up. Should match my case interior nicely.

I think the Thermalright Ultra Extreme, preferably lapped, remains the best choice for air cooling. It's quite small relative to some of the new offerings so wont clash with ram slots, it performs excellently, and should be available dirt cheap second hand.

I couldn't sell my (lapped) one on for £15 a few months back, and it would be a ridiculously good buy at that price.

That said, I've not seen any of its replacements in the flesh as it were. Perhaps there's something I'm missing.
