Pointless really, if there are asbestos fibres in the air they will transfer to your clothes which you then bring into your house etc.

Best to remove it while it's still relatively intact.

ref clothes - already had that covered - but not going into detail on that one !

shared garage -too expensive/faff to get sorted - hopefully we'll be moving soon anyway :)

This really isnt worth paying large amounts to get removed.

Rent a trailer or a van, this will be £50-70 for the day or so.

Buy a quantity of DPM and a couple of rolls of fabric gaffa tape from screwfix/a builders merchants (Max ~£30 worth)

The sheets are already on the ground stacked up by the sounds of it, just lay the DPM on the ground and place a sheet or two (depending on weight of each sheet) onto it, wrap round twice. Gaffa Tape up.

Load sheets onto trailer, take to the tip.

Whilst we're on the subject of asbestos (albeit 3 years later), how can you tell if your roof/ceiling is made from asbestos? We have artex plastering in our house (built in the 70's) and need one of the boards in the living room replacing as it's cracked. Is there any way to tell if it's asbestos or not?

You need to send a sample off to be tested to be sure. Heres a link to a post in another thread with a company he used which seems pretty cheap from some of the prices I was finding.
