OK, so for some bizarre reason beyond my fathoming, as a surprise I will be in Ashburton, Devon next weekend. So, what is the place like. Could I for example find a pub open at 2am on a saturday night showing the biggest boxing fight in 5 years, or am I completely stuffed?

Jeez, Ashburton! Ive not been there in around 10 years (used to live in the area). In the neighboring areas, i'm not to sure whether pubs will be open at that time of night as its a fairly quiet area (If I remember correctly). However, Newton Abbot isn't too far away so the pubs there are always an option. I daresay at least one will be open for the fight.

This topic has brought back a fair few memories! Haha.

Ashburton is a small village. It is very empty and the only thing of any note is the Shell garage with a Subaru dealer attached. Probably best going somewhere like Newton Abbot instead, as previously mentioned. I doubt any pub in Ashburton will have the fight showing - it's a very 'local' place.

Used to work there at a company that I don't know if it's a competitor or not, so won't mention.

[TW]Fox has hit the nail on the head, it's a very small place although I seem to remember there been 3 pubs (all within spitting distance of each other) so y'never know.

There is a Wetherspoons in Newton Abbot which usually shows sporting events. It's about a what, 10-20 minute drive from Ashburton depending on how fast you go along the A38 :p

I didn't think Wetherspoons had licence to show sporting events?

The ones near me just have SSN/Freeview on.

Come to think of it I've no idea. I just remember seeing some people kicking a ball thing around on before. Could have been highlights, not sure.
