Asking for a copy of license when insuring a car?

I have to provide a copy of my paper licence every year, but then this is for company car insurance.

Never had to when I had my own car.

I have never been asked by my car insurers for a copy of my license.

At work however, we have to, for insurance "reasons" provide a copy of our licences every 6 months.

some insurance companies ask for lic just to show there is no points on your lic that you havent disclosed, my insurance company never asked for mine thou

This was the only time i was asked for it, by Bell.co.uk

I bought a policy really quickly online at somebody else's house when buying a car and whizzed through the online screens, completely forgetting to put my points into the quoter.

Didnt think anything of it, about 5 days later got a letter asking for my paper counterpart within a week or my policy will be canceled. Wondered why, realised, phoned them to correct, and they increased the premium and told me that they no longer needed to see it as it now matches.
