Hey guys i've currently got the Asrock ConroeXFire-eSATA2 motherboard but i'm having problems getting it to post. I think there's something wrong with the pci-e part of the mobo. I originally had my 7800gtx and when switching on all the fans spin up fine however i don't get any output from the graphics card. Now origianlly thought the GC had died, however after trying it in another computer i get output, and then i also tried my old pci-e GC in the Asrock and same thing no output.

Does it mean the board is a dud or do i ahve to do something???
Really appreciate any help as it's driving me nuts.

Try clearing the BIOS, also what RAM are you using and do you happen to have a PCI graphics card handy? mines fine with a 7800GT but i'm running it as a server with a pentium D 820 and PCI rage graphics card. Also, what cpu are you using? heard rumors of shipping BIOS not supporting conroes.

Try a different PSU if you have one handy, I've read about the same issue on Asrock Dual-SATA2 motherboards and it's because it doesn't like the PSU (certain Antec models are problematic I think, however have an Antec NeoHE running my Dual-SATA2 and it works fine).

Of course, it may have nothing to do with the PSU... worth checking out though.

Make sure you have the extra power block next to the CPU connected too (4pin or 8pin), it produces the same symptom and easy to forget ;)

ok guys i'll give it ago. the ram is corsair 6400 stuff, and it's a 6800 conroe. Already tried another GC and same problem so i ruled out the original graphics card. The psu should be fine as i took it from a working build, and the only spare is the same make. keep the ideas coming.

A working build that uses the same motherboard? There was a problem with certain Antec PSUs a little while back whereby they'd work with any motherboard except ones made by Asus, for example.

I got an asrock conroexfire, friday night after a restart i clicked on nvdia control panel and the screen went haywire  !! Looks as if someones got a big magnet and stuck to the side of my monitor ! Anyway gone same route as you change PSU, CPU, MEMORY, graphics card. Found if i tried the other PCI E slot wouldnt make a difference. Pretty stuck now, think the board has died on me :(

Sounds like you ran into the 'Direct Access' feature that nVidia have (although only in certain driver revisions I think? Using 84.43 and it isn't there). Basically it overrides your monitor controls so you can set it up via windows instead of the OSD. The only problem is it has been known to mess up certain monitors (ones made by LG mainly I think), whereby the screen image gets messed up and the monitor OSD controls no longer work...
