Asrock Z77 Owners Club

My board arrived today and I'm just waiting on the cooler. Does anyone with an extreme4 have a handy hint about supporting the outer edge when fitting the 24pin power? Of course I could just put a hand under it, but I was ideally looking for something that gave me two free hands.

Nope, Just put a couple of fingers under the board and press, same with the ram, it worked fine for me :)

It was a lot less trouble than I thought it would be. Thankfully I have a co-operative 24pin plug, the corsair 520 I had before needed hammering in and a rampaging african elephant to get it out. It's an absolute non-issue.

I should be able to get the onboard sound working alongside my soundcard, right? At least I can with my crosshair v and my gigabyte board before it. I've got the realtek drivers installed and there is just no sign of it in my sound panel, playback or recording tabs. It was working fine till I added in my xonar, and it's vanished. I can't see anywhere in the bios to turn the onboard on or off either. I was hoping to use the optical out on my motherboard.

EDIT: I got it sorted. The onboard was set to auto and it was listed under the south bridge config. Silly me.

In the process of building my rig, more parts in the post - quicker postie lol.

Spec will be:
Asrock Z77 Extreme 6
i5-3570K
8GB 2133Mhz RAM
128GB SSD
2TB HDD
Sapphire HD 7850
Zalman fan controller
420mm radiator in the roof with push/pull fans

Hoping to push past 5GHz so interested in your settings. Will post mine when it's built.

You can count me in to :)

I have the ASRock Z77 Extreme4 running a 2600K @ a bomb proof 4.5GHz though the CPU is more than happy to go to 5.3GHz (former board was a P67 Sabertooth)

I prefer UEFI overclocking also and will post the details up some time soon.

I've downsized to the ASRock E-ITX

Am I disappointed any???

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

It's an absolutely phenomenal bit of kit!!! :D :D :D

Started having some stability issues to the point where I reset the Bios and started again. My 2133MHz RAM was causing issues so I've locked it at 1600 and I finally have a stable platform for overclocking. Got my system stable at 4.8GHz at a lower Vcore this time so slightly lower temps. 4.9GHz is still out of reach until I flip my lid.

What Vcore are you having to use?

The little gem which is the Z77 E-ITX has no such issues, I managed to max the board out with a 5.1GHz overclock on my 2600K with my memory running at 2133MHz 10 10 10 24 @ 1.45V.
