anyone know how to get the drive axles out of a transmission for a vauhall astra? trying to swap the engine and the axles are a bit stuborn.

shouldn't they just pull out?

or are there some sort of clips somewhere holding them in?

Astra drive shaft should just pop out with a prybar.

yeah, we've tried that though but they wont come out, think we should get a better/bigger pry bar?

i'm thinking about trying some WD40 on it and a heat gun to try and lube it and loosen it, it's the only thing i can think of, and then some greatuitous violance with a gorilla bar!

Are you dropping the engine or lifting it?

If you're dropping it, just take the driveshafts with it?

got to lift the engine, wont drop past the sub fraim, besides i've never 'dropped' an engine, i only know how to lift one :P

but it would come if i could just get the axles out, it's anoying me a lot now!

i think i should have pulled them out while the engine was still hot, bit late now as half the engine's missing =/
