Hi guys

Anyone else have problems or are there reported problems with this board and prime?

Only prime fails everytime i step out of the asus overclock feature? my system has been fine playing CS:S and running 3dmark06 @ 250x10 2.5Ghz but run prime95 and crash with temps @ 38oc?

Running within the asus overclock feature in the bios so im at 220x11 2.4Ghz prime stable for 1 hour so far and temps now @ 44oc?

any idea?

i have tried the AI overclock on that board but it is naff, you have to overclock it manually to get it to be stable. I did this and got my 3700+ upto 2.97 stable on that motherboard when i did it manually, but when i did the 20% AI overclock it failed every test i threw at it. I dont think the AI overclock changes the Vcore or the DDR volts correctly.

Yeah but for me anything outside the AI or *** overclock just fails prime? even though its going to higher temps?

my cpu has done 2.8 in the past with someone else so its good for the 2.5ghz and some? dunno why prime fails

Best to use manual settings on this board imo. I too tried the AI overclock, worked for me (10%) but I wanted more than 10% and once you start going past that mark it isn't just a case of raising the fsb as memory, chipset and voltages also play a part.

Would agree with above - use manaul settings - ignore the AI overclock feature.

Did my first overclock last night and got it to 245 x 11 for 2.7Ghz no probs - no need to raise v-core at all. Stable for 10 hours in prime 95 over night. :)

Happy with that for the time being!

Use the Bios to overclock, it will give you a far more stable machine.
Check that you are running the latest version of Prime95 as earlier version sometimes had problems with A64 chips, if you have reached the limit of your RAM then use a 333 divider, it doesnt affect performance (1 second less on SuperPi but no difference in 3Dmark), keep an eye on the HT so that it stays below 1000, Have a google for Bios settings on this Mobo as there has been some good stuff written.
Finally, keep an eye on the chipset temps as the chipset cooler is the achilies heal of this mobo, as an example im priming right now as i type and my CPU temp is 37degrees C but the chip set has risen to 47Degrees C.
