I have a problem with my motherboard, i recently removed my two IDE drives and put Windows on a Western Digital SATA-II Drive with X64 as the OS... for some reason, the temperature reported for the motherboard by Speedfan and Everest is 44C and then rise by 1C every few minutes, and went up to 52C... this is on idle as well, im just watching the temperature rise... I have no idea why... within 30 mins or so on idle i saw the mobo temp rise from 44C on startup to 51C... there's something not quite right here.

Is it something to do with my BIOS Settings, currently I have a floppy drive which is on IDE and a DVD/RW drive which is set as Master on IDE... or is it something to do with the Boot Priorities... I have installed the latest nForce Drivers as well....

im running a simular setup to u only diffence is ive not update my nforce drivers and im on normal XP not 64 and i get a idle temp of low 40's.

Did u have this problem before u update the bios and drivers maybe a rollback or a fresh install to reset the driver to the ones supplied with the board and see how it runs then. That all i can think of for now a probelm with the drivers. Changing drives and such wouldnt increase the temp that much or nor should it affect the mobo in tha way

the bios version is the same as that before i did the reformat, but it's slightly worrying me that every few mins it would jump up 1C even on idle, went to 52C at one point... but the CPU is at 37C or so, while the motherboard is like 14-15C higher!... might flash the bios to the latets version to see if it helps...

could it be that the x64 OS is making my monitoring software report wrong temps? what is the maximum temp this motherboard can go upto without doing damage? and anyone tell me which part of the motherboard gets heated up, i.e. where the sensor is to report the motherboard temperature?
