Over the last two weeks, I've had nothing but trouble when it comes to this Mobo. It has continually corrupted my HDDs, and after some searching through Google it seems I'm not the only with this issue. It corrupted an old HDD, and a new one that I bought yesterday. This happened with both the old and the new BIOS, and I was left with no option but to order a different Mobo today. It works fine for some people, but from my experience, I really wouldn't touch it.

Could you post more about the problems you had please?

I just got this Mobo and some strange things have happend since installing it so i would like to compare problems just in case the problems I am having are Mobo related.

Hi,

I never had something like this happen so Im not sure what you mean by corrupted?

Is the system stable, memory running properly, enough voltage for the CPU, correct drivers installed?

Basically, the problems started around two days after install. My system would randomly freeze and/or reboot without any information being left in the sytem event log. This slowly spiralled downwards ever since then. After booting my PC up in the morning, I'd be presented with a screen explaining that "one or more of my drives has to be checked for consistency". This happened upwards of 10+ times during a two week period. Then, one day, I booted up, and three secs after the Windows XP splash screen was presented, I got a BSoD explaining that my HDD was corrupted. Fine, I thought, my HDD has died- so I bought a new one. I installed XP on this yesterday, right up to SP2, and then making sure the system was stable, when to sleep. When I woke up this morning, it wouldn't boot, as the HDD had corrupted. This seems to be a problem with the nForce chipset primarily, but a few people I know with the A8N5X have said the same- their HDDs corrupted. A good thread can be found here:

I ran Memtest86 countless times, as well as Drive Health, but nothing. All BIOS/Firmware updates have been installed, and SMART HDD monitoring was turned on. All tests passed, and I was never alerted of an error. I also had a temperature monitor installed, but that didn't show any problems. All voltages are normal etc. I hope my new MSI Mobo won't show the same symptoms. If it does, I'll let you know. This problem affected both Hitachi and Seagate drives.
