doing a build ,

tried this about 3 times

athlon 64 setup
1 sata drive
1 cdrw

system installs all fine , even left it a day then suddenly , it hangs on xp load screen,

during the build process its

install xp pro clean
apply sp2
apply cd drivers all of them
apply auto patcher - FAIL

even left out autopatcher and after seeming to work tried to network it and it hangs.

can get into system in safe mode but whats the problem

read somewhere the nforce 4 drivers are the problem , they say do not install the ide drivers,

anyway at the moment tyring it with an ide drive in case uts sata related

all help appreciated

my auto pacth failed, had similar problem that would hang after detecting drives and just before xp splash, I had disabled floppy in bios as i don't have one. re-enabled the flopy and it worked. Probably won't help you but you never know ..

Good luck chap

My money would be on the IDE drivers, as you suggest. Happened to me once when I forgot not to install them  ended up reinstalling windows, as I couldn't even get into safe mode. Haven't installed an nVidia IDE driver since, and haven't had a hitch :)

Hi, check in the bios that you're booting off the correct drive (also check boot priorities). My A8N Premium sometime tried to boot off a drive with another windows on.

its the drivers,

the nforce sw/ide drivers screw everything up big time,

stick with the standard xp ones but install the rest,

nice one of them to tell us when they know its a fault !!!
