asus confirms coffeelake could have worked in z270

Some of those high end Z270 boards are really expensive, it appears what was said in the bit-tech interview all that is needed is a bios update to accomodate the new cpu's.

some of which offer nothing new that we didn't have on z170 or z270. im not even going to mention intel dropping tick/tock.

It's a bit comical to think that people wanted to use the previous motherboard line up with the latest CPU in order to save money. If you really wanted to save money, you could've used the previous CPU along with the previous motherboard. :)

its a big comical to think that some people wouldn't if they could. its not a previous line up either, its all part of the new process - process, architecture, refinement, 3 year support cycle for a chipset.

The point I'm making is that upgrading from a 6700k or 7700k to a 8700k is engineered by Intel to be worth it only by the skin of it's teeth, and totally pointless for gaming only systems. If anyone buys into the drip drip drip money extracting tactics that Intel employ with CPU iterations, then that person has pretty much endorsed the corporate tactics and it's a bit naive to expect Intel to apply that approach to the CPU and not the chipset.

It's Intel, it's what they do.

I like how some can justify anything coming out Intel's dodgy mouths, but not someone else like Asus.

If Asus says, Z270 (which is actually Z170) could work with BIOS update with CL, then thats how it is.
Trying to cover up the fact of the money grab and usual Intel shady tactics, looks stupid.

Asus aren't perfect. It was raja that was telling people there was nothing wrong with the LLC on the z370 strix boards and started blaming peoples testing methods only to then admit that there is an issue and they released a bios update for it.
It was also Asus that had a lot of x370 boards that were bricking themselves during bios updates.

Dont start me about the CH6 and BIOS -_-
I have whole essays to write about it, and not only the new one, but the one got back in March also.

To put easily, the one back in March burned a 1700X on day 3, without the latter been overclocked. The current one, is going to burn the 1800X some time in the future.
