Asus DSL-N55U Black Diamond

Hi all, my first post here. I got this router after reading about your experience and I am quite happy with it!

Only one thing that I cannot get working is port forwarding. I have tried dozens of different combinations, but I cannot get it right.

We have a PBX sitting on our LAN (192.168.1.93:8082) and the IP to access the router is 210.86.29.250:8080. Could you please tell me how to fill out the PF table? I have tried this with the firewall on and off too. Is there anything else that could prevent me from accessing it from the internet? Thanks a lot.

I've not tried using the auto updater.

What I did was get the latest firmware, this one is working fine..

Extract the file to your desktop; you'll need 7zip or Winrar to extact it from that file...

Then use the 'choose file' button in the router settings and point it at the file.*

*Run through this twice, then once it reboots and is up and running, hold the reset button on the back from ~15 seconds so it fully refreshes all the settings.
Tried that method and it updated successfully. Although I did have a brief panic when I thought it wasn't going to connect to the ADSL. Think I just hadn't waited till the light was green before trying though.

I've not used this an access point or router.

Has anyone found a way to find out how much bandwidth each client is using? Someone is hogging a lot of bandwidth in our house and I'd like to know who.

another thread revival but just a bit unsure what if anything is going on. I switched it for the bebox. Weirdly the splitter provided by Asus doesn't work ( the phone line was dead when using asus splitter ) Used bethere splitter and hey presto. So am on internet no problem BUT... Windows says i am not connected to internet and has the little yellow triangle ?

Any thoughts ?

it's ok now. The major issue is the range doesn't seem to be any better than the be box. I live in a 60sqm flat and When I go to the second bedroom which is the furthest away the 2.4ghz just drops. I'm reading about people getting signals down the road and in their garden and that.

Admittedly I've used WIFI analyser and there is a lot of congestion with about 7 or 8 other routers being picked up. But I can't for the life of me figue out how to increase the range

It just seems like there has to be a setting that I'm missing on the interface. I'm sure somebody reviewed an asus product and said to change something but I can't find this review. This cost 90 pounds ans came with a broken splitter. Tempted to return and go back to be box and get router without modem and adjust position of it.

It's quite a good router once up and running but in the past I've had a few issues on startup. Even with the latest firmware the last time I restarted it I had to go into the router admin and force it to connect as it didn't do it automatically. So I leave it on all the time now to avoid this. Not really an issue for me now because I leave it on but notice the orignal topic poster mentioned about not switching the BT one off.

The internet also hangs on this box. Have gone back to bebox and no problems. Pretty disappointed as this is my first foray into the world of routers and heard so many things about asus that to get worse performance and range and a broken piece of hardware out of the box just seems like a let down especially for £90.

well I returned it ( to the indian place ) took the money back. Will probably be moving to ZEN on 15/01. They recommend a technicolour 582n I think it is. Maybe I'll just get that and some homeplugs for the new house. Hopefully less congestion in a house as opposed to flats currently
