Hi there

For those of you looking for an IPAD 2 equivalent but based on the superb NVIDIA Tegra with dual core processor we have the special bundled Asus Eee Transformers arriving middle of May.

There is a version without keyboard for approx £40 less but as the Keyboard is a £150 option it seems a no brainer to just go with the keyboard version as it saves you over £100 compared to buying the items seperately. :)

Asus Eee Pad Transformer with Keyboard @ £439.99 inc VAT

With a super slim profile of only 12.98mm thick in a frame that weighs only 680g, the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer is comfortable to hold from any position. The unique textured pattern offers a better tactile sensation, so it won’t feel as if it will slip out of your hands.

Powered by the NVIDIA® Tegra™ 2 dual-core processor, the Transformer browses the web at blazing speeds, providing a snappier response time and better performance when multi-tasking. Sporting a HDMI 1.3a port, the Transformer can connect to a HDTV and 5.1 surround sound system, delivering an enhanced multimedia experience.

An IPS Panel made from durable and scratch-resistant glass is viewable at angles up to 178°, and produces a crisper and more accurate color range by up to 50% when compared to other tablets in the market.

A 5MP rear- and 1.2MP front-facing camera can shoot and record HD video, which can be played back in stunning 1080p. Output to HD video on HDTVs is also available via a mini HDMI output port, making it a true mobile entertainment device.

Built-in SRS Sound technology provides a dynamic 3D stereo audio experience, with maximum bass response and a wide sound field from the discrete speakers housed within the Transformer.

The Transformer sets itself apart from other tablets on the market by featuring an optional docking station. This provides access to a full QWERTY keyboard along with unique Android Function keys, turning the tablet Transformer into a full-fledged notebook.

A touchpad, 3.5mm audio jack, two USB ports as well as a built-in SD Card reader for easy file sharing and storage expandability makes the Transformer a versatile media hub. The docking station also extends the Transformer’s 9.5 hours* of battery life up to 16 hours*, so users can use it all day for work and play.

Preloaded on the Transformer is Polaris® Office® 3.0, a professional mobile office Solution which enables users to edit various types of office documents including documents (.doc), spreadsheets (.xls) and presentation (.ppt) files, making the Transformer very attractive for professional use. In addition, the ultra-convenient ASUS WebStorage with one year of unlimited storage space provides worry-free cloud computing.

Google’s Android Honeycomb is a revolutionary operating system specially designed and optimized for tablets, and enables users a full web experience for on-the-go web browsing, communicating and casual computing. Supporting Adobe® Flash® 10.2*2 and the ever growing Android Market, entertainment is a finger swipe away.

The convenient ASUS Launcher also allows users to easily launch software, manage content and access online services and connect devices with a few simple taps.

While ASUS' Waveshare Interface hosts a variety of unique applications such as MyNet, MyLibrary, MyCloud and more. MyNet easily streams digital media wirelessly within home network devices so HD videos or music can be played on devices such as an HDTV or desktop PCs for an even better experience from the Transformer.

The MyCloud*3 application is a total cloud solution, providing access to digital content such as music, videos and files from the cloud anywhere, anytime. Users can even use MyCloud to remotely access and control any PC or Mac system and access applications or files to extend the versatility of the Eee Pad Transformer experience.

Is that ETA a realistic date? seems ages away.

Great product though, the screen and keyboard concept are the stand outs and it comes with Android 3.0 - Honeycomb.

I'm very interested in this product, but you can get the keyboard less version for £180 less elsewhere very easily.... I think your prices are a bit of on this one

Hi there

Right now were using the prices given to us by Asus.

Without keyboard cost us £39 less than with keyboard, hence no brainer.

We have also told Asus pricing seems and they are looking into it. The ETA is accurate as they have already shipped via slowboat to the UK.

The front facing camera outdoes the back facing Ipad 2 camera! and for the rear facing camera 5mp is pretty good too.. pretty good contender here.

Also where did £150 for the keyboard/dock come from? If you buy or preorder a Transformer before the 22nd of April then you can get a keyboard/dock direct from Asus for £54.99 so I can't see that kind of increase afterwards. Both tablet and keyboard/dock price seem way out.

Played with this at Gadget show its great.
Im afriad your pricing is miles off though

on the Nvidia stand at gadget show it clearly said RRP £379 this is without the keyboard

your main competitor who was at gadget show has them for order for £429 including keyboard! They were selling shed loads of stuff at the show,

I've poked Asus again, asking for an explanation or to just give us the right price in the first place........

Need to give them a little more than a poke I think. :D

Yes it looks like they are actually trying to charge us what we should be selling them at inc. vat, so once margin and vat is added agian its made them rather expensive.

They are looking into it.

Ooo the buggers! Wonder why that's only happened with you and no other retails / etailers.

Supposedly this product was launched with only two very large etailors, one of them been the other word for a very large forest.

Other etailors have then simply copied their pricing without asking Asus.

Asus are coming back on Monday but from what they were saying the price will move down but as it stands we'd be fools to just assume we will get the lower price and act upon it as if we sold loads we'd loose a small fortune.

So my advice is don't pre-order one, I shall re-update this come Monday with what they come back with.

That's utter rubbish if they are telling you that, mine was not from an etailer, it was from a high street brand and it cost £360.99 with a discount code. No keyboard/dock with my one but I've ordered that for £55 from Asus and it will be here in May. Quite a few of us have these tablets already (some mail order and some from the shops) hence the surprise at this thread.

You didn't even need to check Google to realise Asus were trying to put one over on you (if true), there is a thread in the mobile section and no one has paid more than £379 for one there which is the RRP without keyboard. As I've mentioned the keyboard is £55 to customers from Asus if they preorder the tab only version within the next week and send Asus a copy of the invoice.

I'm amazed you haven't pulled the product yet now you clearly know it's well overpriced compared to the RRP. And yes, the RRP on the rain forest place is the actual RRP, a quote from @AsusUK regarding the £55 keyboard/dock on top of the £379 RRP on the current pad-only deal "The offer is simply to enable customers buying the Pad now to also pre-order the dock at the bundle price.". My invoice for researching the price of the Transformer for you is in the post. ;)
