Have refined options a little and want to build system future proof as possible.
So i can upgrade graphics and go duel core as needs/cost dictate.

MOBO; would like to stick to ASUS for reliability and to filter choices. but
want FIREwire for dig. video editing. Budget 60-75inc. Would prefer full size ATX and worried about A8R-MVP stability problems. Any views/Alternatives?

Graphics; not up to latest games (maybe when toddlers grow up) but PCI-e to keep future proof, CODII, ROME. Budget 60-100inc (My extravagence)

CASE; ARTIC COOLING, AMD64 Venice 3000. (170)
cheers from a newbie

The only thing I could say about ASUS motherboards with your case is that they have a nasty tendency to put the IDE/Floppy connectors on sideways ie. in the same plane as the motherboard, so they don't fit into your case.

Just something to be aware of.

Have now widened scope to the MSI K8N Platinum

Will it go into Artic Cooling case ok
Is basic memory ok or would I be holding back performance. Manuf websire implies it overclocks itself to some degree?

Looking at the powercolour X800...

Any advise appreciated...
