Hi,

Built a new PC for a mate over a year ago (partial spec dump below):

Asus P5B Deluxe/WiFi-AP iP965, S775
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600, Socket 775
2GB (2x1GB) CorsairTwinX XMS2
768Mb Leadtek 8800GTX PCI-E (x16)
150 Gb Western Digital WD1500AHFD
320 Gb Western Digital WD3200YS
620W Corsair HX Series Modular SLi
LiteOn 16x DVD+/-RW/RAM SATA
Akasa Eclipse-62 Midi Tower Case
Zalman CNPS7700-ALCU 120mm Super Fl
Creative XFI pro card (can't remember exactly which model)

The P5B has been causing no end of problems and the computer's been back to me a number of times. Even though the MB has another year and a bit of warranty he just wants shot of it. Any recommendations on a replacement board (different manuf.) with a similar spec. (must have on board wifi)?

Cheers muchly. :)

You're going to have to go with ASUS if you want built-in WiFi -

P5K-E WiFi or P5K Premium.

Cheers. I didn't realise it was only asus that did on board wifi. I'll look into those options. If he gets a wireless adaptor instead of going for an on-board solution, any alternatives other than Asus? I think he wants to avoid them again (although I've always used them for my computers with no problems).

Ta.

Wow, my P5B-D has been solid as a rock.

Weird how some things work and some don't! Could just be a duff mobo.

Any of the X38/P35 boards are pretty sweet atm tho.

Depends on his budget, i'm using an Abit IP35 Pro and so far its been a great board, easy to setup and very easy to overclock if he wants to. Its also a very stable and hassle free mobo, so that would be my choice based on experience :)
