I have an asus p5b sometimes after the computer has been off for a while it boots up but the fans spin at full speed but the monitor stays in stand by mode. After i press the reset switch everything is ok, is there a reason why it does this?

Aye P5Bs are weird things.

If you turn it off, turn it off completely, because sometimes it doesn't loose the strap settings and gets over itself when start again.

1/10 reboots will it boot properly for me.

So I shut-down, power off and turn on again. (I leave it on otherwise 24/7 this hasn't been off more than 30 mins since I first got it in september ;))

i made a thread about this also.
it is very weird... but one day it just stopped.
now it boots first time all the time.

its asif it needed breaking in or something.

about 1/20 times it boots with a black screen and my desktop flashes one frame about every 6 seconds... weird :S
canny board though. shame about the limits of the 965 chipset :(

yeah its a great board runs my d9 memory just fine, the boot issue doesnt happen all the time to me either 1/20 like you. if i leave it it boots up anyway all be it a bit longer!

2. WARM REBOOT FAILURE: My testing has indicated that failures in warm rebooting are simply another bug with the board. Though it's more prevalent on an overclocked computer, I had this issue arise even when the BIOS is at stock speeds on a fresh reset. Empirically, I notice it far more when the machine was reset via the reset switch, rather than via the restart command in XP. I'm not sure what causes it, and v0711 didn't really fix it at all.
