had a look through the thread already here but nothing on this subject.

Just wanting to know asap if this motherboard has optical out on the audio options ? as i'll need to get a separate sound card if not.

Thanks all,

it doesnt have the socket mate but im sure it has the pins

Dam :( looks like a sound card as well.

Just a final check, on some of the reviews i've just found it says.

Coaxial / Optical S/PDIF out ports on back I/O.

I though the S/PDIF is the port on the back so I can put my optical Toslink cable in ? or am I thinking of the wrong thing ?

update,

finally found a close up picture of the back of the board and yep like you said theres just the 3 audio ports and no optical out :( new sound card it is then.

another update.

having problems finding a soundcard for £40 that'll do optical out so thought i'd follow up on a comment you made in that.

"im sure it has the pins"

how exactly would I use the pins and what would I need and is it cheap :)

also on the mobo it says "S/PDIF component output" could I plug a mini optical into this ? as when I do a search for S/PDIF theres noly mention of toslink and mini optical.

any links/examples of suitable coaxial cable's that I can use bearing in mind that i've got to connect the other end to a optical in (toslink) type input on my surround sound amp.
