Hello everyone,

i just installed the two optional fans that came with the motherboard. It says in the manual that it shouldnt be used with an active cooler ( i suppose that means the stock cooler) but i read at an internet review of the motherboard and it said that i should use them. Anyway, im using intel TAT to monitor the temps:

@ idle (Oced 2.34GHz) CPU 1 44C and CPU 2 42C.
@ Load (oced 2.34GHz) CPU 1 62 ( i stopped it, got scarred :0) CPU 2 59C.

Prior to installation the temps were not any different really, so should i keep them on or take them off. Also which cpu cooler would you recommend for this mobo. (specs in sig)

Thanks in Advance

They just help a little bit in cooling the mainboard, but they do help, as for the cpu, yes they refer to the retail intel cooler as it blows air in all directions around it.

They should be attached if the cpu cooler doesnt blow air to above and to the left of the cpu slot...

I owned a p5n32 sli deluxe ( not SE ) and the thing got damn hot.

Your cpu a bit on the hot side ( if its not overclocked), what cooler are you using?

Thanks for the reply.

Im using the stock cooler that came with the processor and yes the processor is oced from stock 1.86Ghz. Any recommendation on a cpu cooler that is compatible with my motherboard would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

An arctic freezer 7 pro is great value, cools enough for a reasonable overclock to 3.2 ghz or more, the Tuniq tower 120 and thermalright-ultra 120 seem the 2 best air coolers, although a lot mroe expensive, i have no idea if the last 2 will fit, sorry i've sold all 4 of the p5n32sli delx i've owned...

Freezer 7 pro fits it with no probs tho ( had my rig in such a mobo for a week )...

One question about the Arctic pro cooler, do i still need to run the chasis fan with that installed? Also, my idle temps (see above) are pretty high, would it reduce them significantly?

Thanks in adavance

no and yes, the freezer just blows to the left so on the left you wont need the add fan, the fan above the cpu socket might still be needed ( although ive never used one, however both the chips i had were too hot to touch as were the heatpipes, so mayb i should have used them fans... ).

Idle temps are more a matter of good contact between cpu&heatsink, thermal paste and ambient temp, however my p4 is idling @ 34 C on it, so a core 2 duo should be cooler with the freezer...
