Whats the default voltages for the ASUS P5W DH.. I mean Northbridge/SB temps still seem a bit high compared to some. Is Asus overvolting with there auto settings?

Could someone do a chart of what all the deafult voltages be? that would be a massive help. :)

EDIT:

Put the NB/SB @ 1.5v.. still same temps.

I thought the default was 1.5 anyhow so that would make sense.

dont think you can go lower.

What temps are you getting? I changed one side fan to blow in even slowly and dropped the NB temp from 48 to 36.

Maybe a cool breeze is what you really need !

Someone posted a link to the PDF specsheet for the chipset and it said maximum chipset temp was 105C in 55C ambient !!!!!!!

So it would be fine in a toaster then......

Nope, i got rid of a few services i didnt want running in msconfig and now cant install asus update because it no longer recognises the asus motherboard (must have beem the one without any descripion)...

... and i really cant be bothered burning a cd or making a floppy, no major problems with my setup so leaving be !

Put the new bios on.

Doesnt seem to be anything that different in it really. You have to disable a couple of things to allow the voltage control for the CPU which is noted by the line:

Add CPU "Speedstep" & C1E & "Vcore" note string

Windows seems to boot slightly quicker, but then i was using 1101. And other than that not a lot really, back in at 3.6ghz no problems am going to leave it priming overnight.

Think Im just being piccy to be honest, not gonna get my chipset cooler than 40c by the looks of it.

I have modded the nb and sb see here...

And the inside of the case is much better too. Its just that I moved my hard drives down into the lower chamber and was hoping for better cooling.

just updated the bios to 1401 one. My and after that it took my computer 3 goes to fully turn on. 1st and second time it got stuck at the login screen.

and on top of that my overclocking status was gone so i had to put all that in again.

i havnt tried restarting it after its turned on properly yet but if it continues to do this im going to put my old bios back in. :(

You flashed the BIOS while overclocked?
I always reset my BIOS to default values before attempting to flash it.

Yeah Im still on 1101 as nothing I've heard from other people tells me I must upgrade the bios.

Been running 1401 with no issues whatsoever. Always enable the clear cmos checksum box when you do it otherwise it will probably corrupt your bios.
