I've just put together my new rig with an Asus P5W DH Deluxe and Corsair2 x 1GB XMS2-8500....... problem is the RAM is showing up in CPUZ as only PC6400 and I have RAM frequency on AutoDetect in the BIOS

Is the above actually correct or am I missing something ?

Cheers

This is correct for the SPD and not an error. The SPD of the memory is programmed to allow the memory to boot at official JEDEC specifications to insure that it will boot with all MOBOs. Your MOBO will not officially support any faster speed than PC6400 so, you will need to manually set timings/speeds to run faster than PC6400.

Yellowbeard : when overclocking is 2.2v the correct setting ? Currently at 350 FSB with 1:1, timings 5-5-5-15. vCore at 1.475v

Orthos fails after just a few seconds.

Any ideas ?

Cheers

2.1v is our maximum supported voltage on non Dominator DDR2 and 2.4v on the Dominator. 350 FSB sounds awfully fast for a 975 based MOBO. But, I don't have one yet so I may be wrong there.

so do you suggest I back off to 2.1 ?

I'm at 3.5GHz currently........perhaps I'm being unrealistic expecting that to be stable ?
