I've just got the Asus P5W DH Deluxe with the Core Duo 2 6300 CPU and I'm building it from scratch...
Of which I've also noticed that it's got the 0701 bios on boot up.

I thought everything seemed cool until I found out it's not recognising my LG GSA-4160B writer.
I know it's not faulty as I'm using it on my 2nd PC right now.

It mentions this as it boots up...
Primary master drive ATAPI incompatible

This is the only thing in my PC that is IDE and it's already set to MASTER. This is connected to the blue IDE slot on the mobo. I changed the IDE cable just to check that to see if it is faulty but it's still the same... :(
The rest of my HDD's are all SATA.
I need the Asus P5W DH Deluxe to detect my LG GSA-4160B writer otherwise I can't install Windows XP.

I am truly stumped and spent 6 hours trying to solve this and fell asleep!
Can anyone help me build my new computer, please?
Thanks in advance to those that can help me!

P.S. I think my newly built Asus P5W DH Deluxe set up kinda works as I have managed to boot it up from my 74GB Raptor which had all the configuration from my old computer of which I'm trying to reformat ready for my new set up.

IDE are a nightmare with this mobo. I gave up and went all SATA.

Try that other black IDE port on the bottom of the mobo otherwise play with the bios specifically with the boot order and ensure the dvd is last of all + put the 1401 beta bios on.

Where can I get the 1401 bios from?
I've just upgraded to 1305 at the mo and it's still giving me the same problems...
It there such a thing as a IDE to SATA adapter?
Maybe I can get DVD writer to work this way, perhaps?

What have you set under IDE configuration in the bios first page?

I sussed it in the end...
BENT PIN!
I tried putting IDE cable wrong way around on the mobo and it pushed the pin back!
Pushed it back in and it's all looking hunky dorey now... :D
