Just recently boughnt a Asus P5W DH Deluxe WiFi, was wondering if any of you knew if it was compatible wiht nvidia cards as it is advertised to be Crossfire ready i thought it might only be compatible (or better to be) with a radeon card./ The Nvidia card i was thinking of getting was the "Gainward BLISS GeForce 7950 GX2 1024MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-039-GW) ". Would this work ok, ? or would i need a different mobo? or would i be better with an x1900xt etc?

Thanks in advance :)

in some other threads earlier there was some confusion

a 7950gx2 works fine with the standard (non hacked) drivers on any board
that has a 16x pci-express slot.

if you want to run 2 x 7950gx2 (in quad sli) then you'd need the hacked drivers.

the same is for the other nvidia ranges.

Like they said ^^ :)

Essentially, pretty much any modern motherboard chipset will run pretty much any modern graphics card - certainly, if the board has PCI-e graphics slot, it will work with either nVidia or ATi cards, you just -through legitimate drivers, at least - don't get to play with Crossfire/SLi ;)

EDIT : Nice one, easyrider, on the SLI 'hack'

During the first reviews of the GX2 it was stated that the mobo had to be able to see the bridge on the GX2 before you could utilise the second card.

Is this functionality now standard on conroe and more recent other boards?
