ASUS P67 SABERTOOTH INSTOCK - FIRST IN THE UK!

What does this offer over the other variants?

Read away.

In short, no performance benefit over something like the P8P67, but you may like the feature set and design more.

I'd hold off until places have more stock though, the OcUK price is a bit high for this board (not necessarily in comparison to other places, but to what I believe it's worth).

Meh, I ordered this on impulse with a 2600k, now I need to cancel because I really dont need it one bit.

Stupid impulsive nerves making me click buy :(

Hmm a fancy look, more temperature sensors and the slightly lower power consumption...certainly doesn't appear anywhere near worth £200, i'd class it £15 above the pro or something and that's about it

You're about right to be honest, hence what I said above. However, if it looks like the best motherboard design you've ever seen and must have one now, buy away! :D I know some people want things that work with mods and a look they've gone for, so there's no shame in buying purely on cosmetic reasons, as it's still a very good board.

The P8P67 Pro hits a sweet spot of price/performance if you're looking at Sandy Bridge, in my opinion. I'd say P8P67 PRO + i5 2500K is where it's at.

The looks are why I impulse ordered :(

I would really like to mod my case around this color scheme, I've already done copper, blue + red.

But I'll have to call up tomorrow to cancel it, like why would I want to replace my R3E with this? lol.

<---- Crazy and insane for PC upgrading + modding.

My god does that look silly. Seriously, the thing has less feaures than the P8P67 Pro aside from a completely redundant "cooling solution", especially as the P67 chipset is mighty cool as it is (Mine hasn't seen over 30c as yet) and there are plenty of boards out there without such a design that, last time I checked, worked just fine.

This really is marketing at the shallow, who know little better than to go "ooh pretty" and ASUS frankly, should know better. If you really want to spend £200 on an ASUS motherboard, get the P8P67 Deluxe as you'll get a lot better board for the money, failing that, just get a P8P67 Pro, there is nothing here you'll miss by avoiding this design.

What does the Pro have that this hasn't?

Tri-Crossfire support, as the Pro has 3 full size PCI-E ports and the Sabertooth only has 2, the Pro also has a 12+2 phase VRM for the CPU as opposed to the 8+2 of the Sabertooth and the Pro has DTS support, the Sabertooth does not.

As I said, cooling solution aside, the Pro is actually better featured, and is £55 cheaper. You must ask yourself, is a shiny mobo worth paying that much more for when in actuality, you're getting less board for your cash?

I agree with Stop It Rawr. Seems a lower specced but fancy looking motherboard. The shroud depends on a cpu cooler that blows down towards the motherboard. This obviously goes against the ideal flow inside a case from intake to exhaust. To be honest I rather see all the caps and chips on a motherboard rather than that shroud. Normal intake to exhaust airflow would be better at cooling the motherboard than that shroud which would effectively trap warm air underneath it in my opinion. And as stated above, SB hardware is cool already so I really feel that the shroud serves no purpose whatsoever than to make the motherboard look good.

My order is canceled. Warning to all, dont impulse buy overpriced shoddy motherboards just because it looks nice and you want a nice new CPU :D

The £135 MSI board is a much better buy than this one, but I no longer want a huge motherboard downgrade for a slightly better CPU.

ok considering you cancelled, guess we all should aswell :p due to the fact you personally tested the sabretooth and have found it to be shoddy.....

all the reviews i have seen rate it very highly i allways buy asus due to zero problems and don't mind paying a bit more for a higher quality item

Certainly overpriced now at £199.99. Agreed with the above, after reading a few reviews on this, aside from the looks the Asus P67 Pro is a better buy. I'm sure once competitors get stock in the next week or two price overclockers will be forced to drop back to £180ish.

I currently have an Asus Rampage III Extreme and this board is far far shoddier than the one I already have, thats why I canceled. I wanted to get the 2600k, but I dont want a worse motherboard than what I currently have so i'd rather wait for the X58 replacement.

The MSI GD55 is £135 and seems to be identical to this this one.

I also read the reviews for the Sabretooth P67, it comes with just 2 Sata II, and 2 Sata III cables in the box, with very minimal other stuff. Thats hardy a high quality motherboard worth £199 IMO.

If you know about your Asus model names, then you should know that Sabretooth isnt meant to be a high end model, it is meant to be a better built mid range part.
