Hi,

Sorry if this is a 'silly question', but I'm just building a system with this MB and there appears to be two power sockets on the board - the usual 24 pin socket on the edge of the board but also an 8 pin socket on the top edge, 4pins of which are blanked off with a removable plug.

Do I need to connect both or are these an 'either / or' option?

Thanks,

Paul.

..... Both!
Pull the cap out of the 8pin hole and plug in a 8pin connector. Its there to offer more power and stability

Yes if your psu has the 2x4 pin atx 12 volt then you need to connect both,if your psu is an older one with only 1x4 pin atx 12 volt then leave the cover on the extra 4 pin socket and just connect the 4 pin connector that you have.

What on earth were you thinking had been asked, with an 'either' response?

As said pull out the 4 pin cap and connect your 8 pin connect to the 8 holes, allows balancing of load and helps even out voltage fluctuations, more stability for the system. Without the 24pin the system won't function at all.

Thanks all - both it is, now just got to find a way to make the 8 pin cable reach without b******g up my cable management - guess that's one drawback of a big case like the Silverstone TJ107!

Like setter said, you will require an 8-pin extension if you want to route the cable up behind the mobo panel of the TJ07, this is assuming you've cut a hole out of the mid plate behind the mobo tray so you can run the cable up that way??

::edit::

This is the best place to cut a hole for better cable management on the TJ07:
