Asus P8P67 PRO + Fenrir Evo Cooler

Also had this problem, glad to see it confirmed as all I could get from OcUK was automated responses.
Did I mention that the Frio will overhang the 1st and 2nd ram slots by the way? I might of done that in another thread. But it kinda makes ram un-removable? without dissembling the Frio.

Ah yeah the other guy mentioned it.
Given the extra height on the Vengeance RAM due to the heat sinks I'm guessing these won't mix with the Frio?

I don't see it them fitting since I have xms3 in all 4 slots and it's pretty tight the spacing. Someone with Vengeance will have to confirm how extra tall they are compared to regular ram.

My Akasa Venom fan covered the 1st RAM slot if you mount the CPU fan on the right side of the heatpipe. Having it on the right made a 2C difference to my temps but I could always put it back on the left if I needed access to those RAM slots. I just moved my RAM from the black slots into the blue slots and it worked fine.

They're very tall - enough so that I've had to change the fan config to a pulling setup rather than blowing. I've also had to change the fan to a Yate Loon as the Fenrir fan isn't detected by the P8P67 mobo... annoying...

Hi guys

I am just putting my new rig together which I received today, but have come across one problem.

The ( "H" shaped) clip provided with the Fenrir which holds the heatsink to the bolts fitted on the Asus mobo cannot be fitted due the the heatsinks built in to the mobo at the northside of the cpu (top side of the case). They are in the way! :(

Has anyone else used this combination? Am I doing something wrong? I have not built a pc in a few years...

I have now fitted the stock cooler but and am getting temps while in bios @ 60c. Is the too high?

Help appreciatied

Nothing a dremmel and a bit of fidlling wont sort :D

anyone at OC able to comment whether you have tested this - icant beleive that it wouldnt fit ?

The coolers we have tested are - Corsair A50, Corsair H50/70, Akasa Venom and Akasa NERO/S

Not used the Fenrir on Sandybridge yet. You will always get certain coolers that don't fit certain boards as companies cannot always plan for every eventuality.

You have to trim the loops off one side to get it on and the memory slots are very close to the CPU socket. It's not the ideal cooler.

file, cut , grind the offending bit off the bracket, as long as you keep the proper mounting holes and remove the bur it should be good.
But bracket not fitting properly on these boards and ram slot coverage is why i never got one of these. ;)
