Hi all,
started my build, all power up ok. Not overclocked yet!!!

Trying to set up my C300 ssd and a samsung 1tb Hdd.

Bios is set to AHCI

Sata6G_1 showing c300 enabled , and have been able to load windows 7 fine.

Sata3G_3 dvd drive enabled
sata3G_4 samsung 1tb Hdd enabled

when i go to the Boot section of the bios i have the following

Boot option Priorities

Boot1 P1: c300 ssd
Boot 2 P3 dvd

Under this is
cd/dvd bbs prorities - click on that and it shows Boot option#1 P3dvd

under this is

Hard drive BBs priorities click on this, it says

Boot option#1 P:1 c300ssd
Boot#2 P4 samsung 1tb HDD.

I cant change the setting so that the os system sees the HDD, the Bios will not allow me to change the Second boot option to the Hdd.
If I click on the Boot bios option , for Boot option #2 it only gives me the option of the ssd or the dvd not the hdd?????

WHAT AM I DOING WRONG???

I want to add another 1tb hdd to raid both hdds in raid 1.

I am using the ssd for os only, I want to store everything else on the hdd.

Do I need to change the sata mode to Raid rather than AHCI mode to be

Banging my head against a wall at the moment

Help appreciated

To start with you need to set the BIOS to RAID and not AHCI if you wish to RAID your 1TB disks.

When you installed Windows you should have disconnected all drives apart from your SSD and DVD. If you don't do this some Windows files get put on any other disks connected.

Start again.

Set to RAID mode.

Only connect the SSD and DVD.

Set the first boot device to the DVD.

Install Windows onto the SSD.

Set first boot device to the SSD and second to the DVD.

Reconnect your 1TB drives and then set up your RAID.

ok thanks.
when i first started, I only had the ssd and dvd connected.
the bios was set to AHCI by default, loaded windows 7 onto new ssd.

Will I need to totally wipe the ssd drive now, and reload with raid enabled in the bios.

do i need to format the hdd's before they geet picked up.

Thanks for you help so far

To be honest I've no idea.

Try changing to RAID mode and see what happens.

No need to format the HDD's.

Go into the RAID BIOS to set up the RAID and then you need to intialise the disks and allocate a drive letter to the RAID from disk management in Windows.

thanks for you help.
Will have a go tommorow.head is hurting now!!!!!!!!
i will try changing to raid, and see what happens.i didnt want just change things to make things more complicated for myself, first full build and all.
had a quick look at formating ssd's, not advised to do a full format.
