Does anyone else have experience running DDR3 1600Mhz ram in this board?

Mine has troubles starting up first time on a cold boot. Is this something I should be looking to RMA the board for?

Thanks

This is interesting. I have an i7 950 in a Rampage III Gene and quite often (maybe 15-20% of the time) my machine won't post from a cold boot. Fans come on, board lights up, just no POST sequence. Pressing reset has always (up til now at least) got it going.

I'm running 3x2GB of 1600MHz DDR3 (Exceleram RedLine IIRC). The i7 is on a 24/7 4GHz OC.

I have not really done any testing as to be honest it's not that bothersome, but if anyone knows of a solution or even why this occurs then it would be appreciated.

That's exactly to what I'm experiencing but it's a higher percentage of the timer. I have to put the machine to sleep instead of turning it off to get it to come back on.

I've also got an i7 950 which is OC'd to 4.2GHz too. It doesn't seem to happen if I don't OC my processor but that leaves the RAM running at 1066MHz instead of it's rated speed.

Does hitting the reset button not do it for you?

I'm reluctant to properly test it since I don't turn my computer on and off that regularly, so I might have to go a long time with stock clocks before the problem shows up.

For the record, my RAM is running at the full 1600MHz since I'm doing 200x20 BCLK

EDIT: I see we're running similar kit. Would you mind sharing your main OC setings for 4.2GHz? Also what temps are you getting? I ran a little too hot for my liking when I achieved 4.2 (about 85ºC under Prime95).

Mine's probably pretty similar to yours but I'm running at 21x multiplier.

As I couldn't be bothered to type out all my settings I took pictures on my phone instead:

try turning your psu off at the switch on the back and then press the power button, I've had lots of asus boards that hold a static charge that needs to be cleared by doing that before they will boot.

Ive had this happen on my p6t dlx v2 ever since i got it, doesnt matter if i run 21x or 20x multiplier, hit reset on boot and it loads windows fine. Currently at 20x200, ram at 1600mhz, 1.2935 vcore, 1.325 qpi, seems to happen a lot less since i changed from 21x193 though, going by any articles ive read this is a pretty common issue on the p6t dlx v2.

No Cold boot problem when I had it on Air-cooled. Now completely watercooled and still no cold-boot problems.

Running ram at either 1600mhz @ 1.58v 8-8-8-24 1N or 1800mhz @ 1.58v 9-9-9-28 1N. Using 12 Gig Corsair Dominator ram.
