Just wondering if this is bad, or dangerous really in regards to the battery?

I'm not really bothered if the battery endurance is degraded, since it hardly lasted for gaming anyway.

I run it 24/7 as a makeshift server.

Shouldn't be a problem, no different to leaving a laptop plugged in long term.

If it has such a function in the BIOS set it to only charge to 80% to better preserve the battery (EDIT: It should have battery care mode which does that). A decent li-ion charging system shouldn't hold the battery at a float charge (which will degrade it over time unlike other battery chemistries) but instead maintain the charge but not all implementations do that properly :(

EDIT: If leaving it unattended 24x7 as a precaution ideally have it somewhere that if the worst did happen any fire would be contained i.e. metal cabinet, but you'd have to be pretty unlucky for something to happen.

See if it has a bypass mode in the software, my Onexplayer has this and it basically does what it says on the tin bypasses battery when enabled.

Apparently the Ally automatically bypasses this after searching, I didn't even realise.
