This is my problem i want to get this Motherboard
Asus Striker Extreme nForce 680 (Socket 775) is it good board any problems with it if so can anyone show me a better MB i want the best top end MB i just wanna throw some cash at a new gaming pc and i wanna start with the best MB.

I will be running a Intel Core 2 DUO E6700 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.67GHz (1066FSB)

the quad core are still stupid money even for me :D

Tbh an Abit AB9 Quad GT and a Q6600 would only cost another 30 quid.

Unless you need SLi.

Tbh wait and buy a P35 based mobo like the Asus P5KD and a Penryn when they appear soon.

Depending on what you have now and how desperate you are to upgrade ofcourse

:)

I am going for a full upgrade new case psu motherboard cpu the lot and i'm not going to be overclocking, so is the striker extreme board anygood, i do like the looks of the board and what it as on it. But if the board isn't stable i would like to know.....

i would say don't waste your cash on the striker even if you are overclocking, hype over substance.

Agree with that-mobo's that are just as capable can be had for half the price, less if you aint overclocking.

ok i want a motherboard that is working ok in vista, as SLi and acouple of pci slots loads of sata and usb firewire on it and also running stable rock solid would be nice......
not going to overclock will be running E6700 core2duo

I have the Striker and it ran well with the 6700 , i had it stable for a long time at 500 fsb , once i got rid of the stock nb cooling , if your running at stock speed then fine the standard cooling will be ok , i have just emailed asus and asked the question if the striker will work with Penryn cpu that will be out later this year , if there answer is no then i would go for the Asus P5K Deluxe WiFi Intel P35 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard as it will work with Penryn . Gives you options later

The striker has been rock solid for me, but only due to manually tweaking the BIOS. Best board if seen in a long time.
