Asus strix z270f no post

So i decided to upgrade my pc, bought Asus strix z270f i5 7600k and 16gb Corsair 3000mhz ram. Fitted in to case, i get the aura lights and the stand by led but on power up the CPU led is lit red and the system doesn't post. I have tried ram in all slots with and with out my gfx card. I've tried it in the case and out of the case but nothing is working. Should i RMA the mb?

Have you plugged in the extra 8pin ATX power cable up near the cpu socket?

Pull the cpu and check the socket

ClearCMOS.

Power off at the wall, pull the battery out of the board, leave it for a minute, place it back in and power ON again, if that doesnt help.......

Then you need to start stripping the PC back to basics like disconnecting any drives, pull out any GFX cards (plug monitor into the board directly), try one RAM stick at a time in all the RAM slots.

Board, CPU (and heatsink) and some RAM is all you need to get to the BIOS.

Double check the case reset/power switch cables are going to the right place.

All been done, even left it for an hour and come back to it. I'm not sure what else I can do

Other things to try,

Build it outside of the case just incase there is some short circuit happening.

If you are using a large cooler then it is possible to overtighten and thus bend/warp the PCB and this stops the CPU pins making proper contact.

I have built it outside and i have just tried it again. Currently trying to reset the bios by taking battery out. Think it might be dead. Will see about RMA

just an update, sent the mobo back to ocuk for rma, new board sent out and now up and running

no further info was provided to me, i can only assume there was a problem with the pins/ cpu mounting area, as that was the error led that was lit up.
