Do you actually need a static MAC address for some reason ? I have set static IP in the past but as long as the router is sending the packets to the correct MAC address is there a problem.

The router is obviously assigning a MAC adress when the PC connects to the network and if the PC is getting all of its packets i do not see the point in setting a static MAC address.

I am not great with networking but if you do not get an answer here then post in the networking section - https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/community/networks-internet-connectivity.6/
I am sure someone in there will know the answer.

its all for setting setting family filter, setting times internet comes on and goes off so he not on all night, nothing works, even if i click on connected at time and click block internet it never goes off. pointless trying to set rules if router assigning a new mac address every time pc starts, defeats the point of having a family filter built in is thers

Does your son have admin access on his PC? If so your settings will be largely pointless. Routers dont assign mac addresses, they assign IP addresses. The mac address of a device is assigned at it's hardware level. However, its very easy to change this on the device itself as long as you have admin access. Your son could have installed software to change the mac address of his network on startup, or it could simply be built in. (iPhones do it by default now for example with the "private mac address" feature specifically to try and stop tracking.

In short, I dont think you have a router issue. This is something, whether it be a feature in the driver, or stand alone software, causing the mac address of the PC to be randomised each time it starts up. Unless you solve the issue on the PC your safety features will never work.

Even then though, if he has admin hes going to be just a few clicks away from a VPN and beating your family settings anyway. You need to control this at the device level first.
