Here's the link: http://uk.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=0r4ZBZZGVWgBcotW

It's essentially the 30VT-A1, but with 2.3" added on, 1kg more in weight, and a DVD-RW drive... Can be had for £730. What do you think? I'm not entirely sure of the pricing of the UL30VT's, but I'd assume 650ish, although this laptop is a 15 incher, it's still pretty portable owing to how thin and light it is. Should I wait, or should I buy? I'm pretty much just after a laptop to browse the net, skype, play WoW on from bed\on the train. The ULX0V series laptops seem to be what I want, but 13.3, or 15.6?

if 15.6'' isn't a problem for you, I'd go for it. I prefer a smaller 13'' myself, and it will be a little bit sturdier (less flex).

The ul80vg (the 14'' version) seem to be not as popular due to the poor screen. Dunno about the 15'' screen though.

BTW, the current version available is the UL50VG-XX027X, not the 'A1' with the 56000mha battery. But still, pretty good.

EDIT : hmmm scratch that. Play.com says it's the 56000mha battery. Still, I am pretty sure the 'XX' series is the lesser 4800mha battery option.

Also the VG doesnt allow you to overclock the CULV CPU. Only VT models allow that. It bumps the FSB from 800 to 1066. This gives a big boost in performance when you need it.

I am waiting for either the 30VT or the 80VT, but god knows when they will hit the UK

Then that's a no-no for me. I thought the Vg would have Turbo33 as well.

Why does it take so long to produce the VT series for the european market :) The wait is killing me!

I did some looking around and I'm going to go with an Acer 8371, tis a SU9400, 4Gb DDR3, 320Gb disk, 13.3", Radeon 4330 w/ switchable Intel, and 8hrs+ battery (which'll probably be 5hrs of browsing) for £600.

edit: plus it's not got gaudy gloss finish to it. :p
