A friend of mine has come to me with his pc that a friend built about 1.5-2years ago.

I did some tests and its the graphics cards that went 'pop'. Anyway its an Asus card (EN8800GTS). But the problem is, his friend who original built the machine purchased all the parts via the company he was working for at the time. Then he squared it up with the boss and now my mate is left without any receipts or with no way of using the company to get a replacement.

I've tried looking on Asus website but they dont seem to deal with Joe Bloggs directly.

Any ideas??

Your best bet would be to contact them, give the card's serial code perhaps, or some form of identification that it is an official asus brand card. There will be model numbers or something of the sort for sure.

Other than that without a receipt I am not sure there is too much you can do.

well the card is shagged I managed to find the capacitor that has gone pop, luckily its right by the bottom of the card and not under the heat exchanger.

I have two choices battle with Asus or take it apart and get my old man to try and replace that part.

Either way the guy who had the card is going to get a new machine next week
